Why new age marketers need to be programmers with a design sense?

The world is constantly changing and with the constant advancement in technology you do not want to get left behind as a marketer. Gone are the days when you could just go about your marketing without having to worry about being knowledgeable about software that will aid your marketing skills. But as a new age marketer, the field of play is getting more competitive with an increasing array of software becoming available that will allow you to stay on course to achieve your objectives and keep up with the expectations of your customers, particularly those that are tech-savvy.

As a new age marketer, you need to start learning more about computer programming and the software available for marketing so that you don’t get left behind somewhat in the ‘Dark Ages’. Quite many people in the marketing world are experts in the software and computer programming field and in order to get across to them with little or no difficulty, you yourself need to be well-equipped technically. Now, learning to be knowledgeable in software is not just enough but you need to be creative in your application of it.

However, it is preferable that you start from the basics. You should start with the simple ones for practice so that it becomes easy to move to the complex ones that will have a significant effect on your marketing. As you get familiar with the programming and more advanced, you need to create a marketing process that will help you to provide prospective customers with the appropriate experience and then direct them to the right stage in the marketing sales funnel. This will contribute immensely to the efficiency of your marketing.

No doubt, you will face challenges when trying to accomplish this but your knowledge of the software will increase your chances of overcoming these challenges. Also, when coming up with designs that will allow your marketing strategies to thrive, you will factor in adaptability and maintenance so that you will be able to fully satisfy your customers. So if you are a new age marketer, then here are four skills that will help you to fully maximize the evolving technology for your marketing:

  1. Marketing automation – a lot of marketers happen to specialize in one part of marketing (like email marketing, content marketing or SEM) but if you are really interested in getting ahead of your competitors, you need to be versed in all these aspects and utilize them to your own benefit.
  2. Agile methodology – this is important as it is used to know the best way to come up with stories that will sell your brand, assign points and also track the progress of development.
  3. Copywriting – if you can remember, I mentioned creativity above; well, here is where you need it the most. In order to come up with a headline that will cause a stir in people and get them interested, you have to be creative. You should have a good understanding of the core values and brand equity of your company.
  4. Analytics – this is important to understand so that you are able to conveniently collect data and analyze numbers that affect the decisions of prospective customers and also influence their actions. If I have learned anything from working at startups is to be a Jedi in growth hacking. I apply to this day while working at INFITEC projects. In the past, it is said that deep understanding of analytics separates marketers from growth hackers but times have changed.

Overall, it can be seen that you will still need to have a bit of creativity about you in order to thrive in the marketing world of today now that everything has gone global.
